The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

...well, actually, only two polls.  One silly, and one (slightly) more serious.

1)  I had a lot of trouble deciding on a title for Another Coraline.  ~PikeBot and I were hammering out the final beta touches and chatting over AIM, the night before the first chapter was supposed to go up, and I was wigging out about my fifty-four-page fanfic with no title.

We ended up going with the simplest route and just calling it Another Coraline, but as I got more and more frustrated and sleep-drunk before we came up with that option, the possible titles we were brainstorming got sillier and sillier.

The following seven titles were all actually suggested for the fic quite late in the night, though none of them were meant seriously.  Just for a laugh, I thought I'd post them.  Which one's your favorite?

2) This poll requires a lot less explanation.  I'm thinking of writing some short stories and oneshots in the Another Coraline timeline.  What sort of fic would you like to see?

If you have any more specific requests or ideas, please mention them in the comments!  I can't promise for sure that any of these will be written, but it's nice to have an idea of what catches the general interest, y'know?

1) WOW THOSE ARE SILLY TITLES. XD
I'd say 'Another Coraline' was the best title, outta all of them for serious a title. Alone in the Dark would have been the next best thing, but it has an 'eh,' factor in the form of the horrible movie. Best silly title, I have to say would either be 'Electrick Boogaloo' (or whatever) and 'DIRT BIKE'. Just 'cause.

2) I WANT TO SEE ALL OF THOSE FICS. AAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL OF THEM!
If I had to choose, then...

'Romance: Coraline and Wybie in college.'

*nods* "Another Coraline" came up quite early in the discussion, but we dismissed it as probably already having been used about fifty times. Then we spent about an hour coming up with ideas as I got more and more frantic and sleep-drunk (which is how "DIRT BIKE" happened, in a fit of giggly, slightly panicky joking)...

...and then I Googled "Another Coraline" and discovered that no other fic had used it as a title. And that was the end of that discussion.

Those are actually pretty much my favorites on the list, too. Handy!
